Backfill: May 23, 2019

 

Many deliveries today.  The same trucks that took the dirt away bring back the sand.

 

 

 

Mostly sand instead of gravel.  It comes from the same gravel pit, is less expensive, and porous enough to allow water in the soil to flow to the storm drain.

 

 

To backfill, Bud first puts a thin layer of gravel over the storm drain. 

(By the way, note that this is actually the first vehicle parked in what will be our garage.) 

 

 

 

Bud has to get down into the trench to make sure the gravel covers the perforated pipe.

 

 

The bobcat then moves the sand into place.
